The main base liquor is made of whiskeys matured in double sherry casks, Sherry Butt and Hogshead, from the traditional maturation area of Spain, supplemented by Sherry Butt whiskey aged for more than 6 years in barrels, and new American oak barrel-aged whiskey to add wood, spice and other flavors, which contrast with the dried fruit, molasses, nuts and other flavors of the sherry barrels themselves. What’s special is that light peated malt whiskey aged in hogshead casks is also added, which adds a little bit of smoky and roasted feeling to the aftertaste.
