“Kanro”, meaning Cold Dew, marks the first chapter in Akkeshi Distillery’s ambitious 24 Solar Terms series — a collection inspired by the traditional Japanese seasonal calendar. Representing the quiet shift into mid-autumn, this release captures the crispness in the air, the soft hush of falling leaves, and the natural stillness before winter arrives.
Crafted in the misty coastal town of Akkeshi in Hokkaido, this single malt is a bold yet refined expression of Japan’s northern terroir. With a peat level of approximately 30ppm and aged in a variety of casks — including bourbon, sherry, wine, and Japanese Mizunara oak — Kanro reveals a complex tapestry of aromas and flavors that evolve with every sip.

Aroma-A layered nose opens with fruity aromas of strawberry, citrus peel, apple, and dried berries, followed by oat and sweet milk candy. Hints of lemon acidity, creamy vanilla, and light smoke emerge as it opens up.
Palate- Rich and full-bodied. Notes of white pepper, spice, dark chocolate, and toasted wood blend with mellow peat smoke. A vibrant complexity from the cask combination gives it both warmth and depth.
Finish- Long and elegant, with lasting peat smoke, black tea bitterness, and gentle oak sweetness.
